I (Melinda) left my HP laptop in the car overnight. Temps dropped below freezing. In the morning, even after allowing the laptop time to "defrost" as it were, it would not start. I searched multiple threads online, watched videos, searched for an open repair store (it was a Saturday, so none were open).
Disclaimer: I'm no techie. This is what helped my computer, and I / we offer no guarantee of success or warranty for lack of success/ damage to your laptop. Use this information at your own risk.
Thankfully, I eventually made my way to phone tech support. The solution he gave me that worked right away:
- unplug the laptop from it's power source (at the computer, not the wall) - hold the start button for 20 seconds - plug the laptop back in - start the laptop
I was shocked and thankful. The tech support guy said it's the standard protocol when the laptop won't start. You learn something new every day.
Btw, I have an HP 15 inch Pavilion, and this information was posted in 2023. The HP tech support phone number I called to receive this information is 800-474-6836.
Hope this helps someone who's out there searching for answers!
